The educational entertainment
video teaches what were found through research to be the least familiar
body parts to children between the ages of 2 and 6. Rap music was chosen
as the medium for instruction because of its popular pneumonic style of
communication and its educationally effective attributes. Rap music is
marked by a very physical, energetic, emotional, repetitive, rhythmic,
rhyme, call and response conversation -- which will take place between
the viewers and video talent. YPCI’s research has found rap music
to be an effective tool for facilitating the learning process; children,
children's voices and childlike characters have also been found to be
effective for educational entertainment.
Child’s
Activity Book/Leader's Guide
The activity book
has been developed to reinforce the names and images of the body parts
addressed in the video. Children will be provided opportunities to process
the information more deeply. The activity book will enhance what is seen
in the video and will provide for a meaningful and FUN learning experience
about body parts.
The Leader's Guide
has been appended to the Child’s Activity Book, and provides creative
suggestions that parents, teachers and friends can use to enhance the
child's learning experience.
